About the event
Midsummer at Skansen is the most traditional way to celebrate Sweden's biggest summer holiday. The day starts with raising the maypole (midsommarstång) decorated with birch leaves and wildflowers, followed by folk dancing, fiddle music, and children's games. Food stalls serve pickled herring, new potatoes, and strawberries. The celebration runs through Midsummer Eve and Midsummer Day.
