The network at a glance
SL (Storstockholms Lokaltrafik) runs the entire public transport network in the Stockholm region. The Tunnelbana (metro) has three colour-coded lines, supported by the purple Pendeltåg commuter trains, the Tvärbanan light rail, two heritage rail lines and a dense bus network. Tickets are valid across all SL services within the zone.

Ferries & the archipelago
Inner-city ferries (lines 80, 82, 83, 89) are part of the SL system — your normal ticket works. The popular Djurgården ferry (line 82) from Slussen to Skeppsholmen and Djurgården runs all year. For the Stockholm archipelago use Waxholmsbolaget (separate tickets), with full schedules from May to mid-September and reduced winter service.
Night transport
The metro runs roughly 05:00–01:00 weekdays and around the clock on Friday and Saturday nights. After the last metro on weekdays, "nattbussar" night buses (numbers in the 9xx range) take over, departing from Sergels Torg, Slussen and Odenplan. Same SL ticket applies. Bus 4 (cross-town) and pendeltåg run reduced night schedules on weekends.
Accessibility
Almost every metro and pendeltåg station has lifts; new buses kneel and all have ramps for wheelchairs and strollers. Real-time accessibility status (lift outages) is shown in the SL app. Service dogs travel free. Reduced-mobility travellers can request assistance via SL's Ledsagning service.
